Caring for the children of Africa. For Life

WELCOME

The Acacia Foundation supports children and caregivers living in a residential “home” in the KwaZulu Natal province of South Africa.   When a child loses his or her parents to AIDS, extended family members are sought to take in the child.  If the family cannot care for yet another child, the Acacia Foundation Children’s Home is often the only option the child has.  For this reason, we take quite seriously the lives with which we have been entrusted.  These 18 children would literally be homeless without our support.

WE ARE DIFFERENT FROM MANY OTHER ORGANIZATIONS because we are a small organization, without bureaucracy, but with the passion for children in need.   Unlike large organizations where money can disappear in high salaries and more likely, corruption, the Acacia Foundation has direct control of all sponsorship money.  All money raised goes into a South African bank account (Nedbank) and our operating expenses such as food, school uniforms/fees, school transportation, stipends for caregivers, and medical care are paid directly from this account.  The only cash expenditure is for taxi service.

The Acacia Foundation is 100% in control and accountable for all funds raised and expended.  We are a 401 ( C ) 3 organization with a non-compensated working board of directors.  Donated services are welcome and accepted, including this website.
